Oct 1st …. to me that means the launch of online magazine LONNY. {oh…and 2 days until we find out who wins Nations Next Top Model Home…good luck to all the designers} …I think it is a real long shot for me to win…but I have totally enjoyed the comments and good wishes I have received!!

This is so exciting…I have been waiting for a Domino Magazine replacement…The online format is a little boring to me…But I will adjust! I am just thrilled that there is a “real life” design magazine. As you have discovered about me….I like rooms that are interesting and have thought and meaning to them ….I think anyone can pull off “clean and simple” interiors…{I do it all the time!!…and then I beg those clients to go a step further} I think it takes time to layer and give interiors dimension. You can do this by adding art, fabrics, interesting accoutrement,wallpaper, murals, and unusual pieces of furniture….{either new or “flea market ” finds…I prefer a mix of both}. It doesn’t have to be “busy” or “cluttered” ….it is just so cool to be interesting!!

I am on a mission…here you go…..My point of view: if you want your home to look like one of the many of the mass market furniture stores…Go for it!! You really do not need an interior designer or decorator….If you want interesting “not like your neighbor” interiors…call me!!

I have such awesome friends and they always email me links of different things they find….Kim Bost {she is a wonderful mom,totally creative person, my former neighbor, and friend!} found this awesome “green” company that produces wallpaper and fabrics! The patterns are just FUN!!

Heck….who am I kidding! I make a list then lose the list….start another and bam..that is gone too! That is one of the first things I tell my clients. I try.. but I am NOT organized…I try.. but I am NOT perfect. I AM creative, quirky, crazy,sometimes funny and NOT organized! My motto/mantra… “creative people are messy people”…I remember reading that when I was about 13 or so…It was my excuse to my mom when I did not clean my room..Oh Lord …stop me now!!! But on my “Life List”…the one in my head! I need to get on the sell yourself bandwagon….Yes I can create coolness but can I sell it??? {pause…..awkward silence} I don’t know but I am going to try….if you are looking for some kitschy glam in your decor….Then give me a jingle…..If you want “one dimensional design”…

WELL….OK I’ll do that too!! hahhaha

Miles Redd…”The Shiny” Designer

I thought this was fun because I am working on a couple of houses and plan on doing a little lacquer wall action!! Miles is the master of this look so I wanted to post some of his work!! It is a very sophisticated version of what I am aiming to accomplish in my clients homes….Cross your fingers… AGAIN! (just kidding it is going to look FABULOUS!)

Did you notice the Ikat on the small French chair?…Very similar to the one I used in my model home…… one slight difference…the Robert Allen fabric I chose is about $30 a yard….. This one is hundreds more!

My favorite!! Love the emerald green…stunning!

Diane von Furstenberg….FABULOUS

I think I have a really good picture in my mind of my mom wearing the famous DVF wrap dress (circa 1974 or so)! My mom (Irene Byrd) is my inspiration…I wish I had the desire to “fix up” like she would… (my mind is too busy on other things)… Irene was a complete nut for clothes, shoes and jewlery…..Well, if you are even mildly into design and fashion you will for sure recognize the name Diane von Furstenberg…a fashion icon …no doubt. Well..here is a story for you…my neighbor Doni Kay’s daughter is the “face” for DVF this season. Very cool….she is just crazy beautiful …will remind you of a younger DVF. (and yes that wrap dress is still as cool as it was in the 70′s!) I just love the fashion connection with interior design….and the images are incredible! Check out this link and you will see even the graphic prints for this season are so in with the fabrics and colors I am seeing in the interior design community….Enjoy and congratulations to Ali Kay…your mom is so proud!! here is the video…
